COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Since 2004, South Central AHEC has worked with county-level stakeholders across South Texas to advance access and decrease health disparities that promote the population's common good. We support community collaborations that work alongside local citizens to build trusting relationships, create a shared vision with a common agenda and seek resources to sustain positive change.

Working together as partners, we support the development of initiatives to:

  • Promote information and services to communities through health fairs and community health outreach events

  • Promote networking at all levels to improve community health status

  • Strengthen community-clinical partnerships through internships, practicums and rotations

  • Cultivate community participation through community engaged conferences and summits

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has."

- Margaret Mead
